During 2021 and 2022, the playgrounds on the estate benefited from substantial investment with money coming from a special fund to which developers in the local area had contributed. The Co-Op had been campaigning for these improvements since 2014. There is now a variety of exciting facilities for different age groups with gym equipment and table tennis for use by all.

The estate was designed on garden city principles and benefits from green spaces. Over the next few years, we want to put more resources into these areas to improve their appearance and make them into places that are a source of pride for the community. Working with our partners, Urban Canopy, we are keen to involve residents in the green spaces by imaginative planting schemes including generating edible products.

There is a small room which is used by the Committtee for its meetings and also for general residents’ meeting on the estate. It has also been used by community groups. Although small, it has a microwave and sink and folding tables meaning that the room can be used flexibly. In 2024, it is planned for the Co-Op to manage a much larger community facility which is being newly built on Patmore St in the middle of the estate.

There are currently 270 trees on the estate. Some of them have been around longer than the estate itself. They are a valuable environmental asset and we have been pleased to carry out some planting programmes in late 2017 and also in 2019 and 2020.
